Kanno Chiaki

Kanno Chiaki currently serves as the President of the Chinese Cultural Society (Japan), the President of the Art Studies Association (Japan), and the Vice Chairman of the Calligraphy and Calligraphy History Society (Japan). He has received grants from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for various research projects. For example, Bibliometric Study of Modern Chinese Calligraphy, Bibliometric Study of Chinese Stele Rubbings, Comparative Japanese-Chinese Bibliometric Study of Calligraphic Materials, Restorative Study of Old and New Networks of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Imported into Japan, Comparative Regional Study of the Formation of "Calligraphic Platforms" in Modern East Asia, etc. For several of these research projects, international symposiums were organized, and outside lecturers were invited, including Bai Jianxin (Boston University, now Zhejiang University), Zhang Huiyi (Chinese University of Hong Kong), He Yanchiuan (National Palace Museum), Chen Jianzhi (National Palace Museum), and Kim Sheng Yi (National Central Museum, Korea).
