Huang Chih-Yang (born 1966), also known as Huang Yang, holds a Doctorate from the China Academy of Art and a Master of Fine Arts from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University. He currently serves as the Chief of the Office of Academy Education and Dean of College of Humanities and Arts, Huafan University, Director of the East Asian Calligraphy Research Center, and Chair of the Taiwan Art History Association. He is also a Researcher at the Calligraphy Research Center of the China Academy of Art. Additionally, he has been a jury member for prestigious awards such as the National Art Exhibition, Kaohsiung Award, Da Dun Award, and Chung-shan Youth Art Awards. Huang also holds advisory roles at the National Museum of History and the Hengshan Calligraphy Art Center.
Huang has led numerous research projects on prominent figures such as Yu Yu-jen, Tai Ching-nong, Ting Nien-hsien, and Liu Tai-hsi, funded by Taiwan's National Science and Technology Council. His academic work primarily focuses on the modern development of calligraphy in China and Taiwan, with his artistic endeavors aimed at innovating calligraphy through modern concepts. His book, Study on the Development of Modern Calligraphy in Post-war Taiwan, published by the HCS Calligraphy Art Foundation, is a seminal work for understanding modern Taiwanese calligraphy.
